This Dodge Cove residence is a 4,000 square foot new home built on a dramatic parcel of land with aggressive terrain and exposed ledge everywhere. Working with these key elements, the house was sited on the high lands where we were able to exploit a beautiful ledge outcropping and views of the Damariscotta River. The house is oriented to maximize its solar exposure. With high performance insulation, a hydronic radiant slab heating system coupled to a high efficiency gas boiler and a solar domestic hot water system, this house is efficient and comfortable all year long. The architecture is classic New England with bold accents like a 16” diameter Doric column that marks the main entrance of the house and a hexadecagon screen porch.
